New York Fashion Week, New York Designer Showrooms

On Thursday the New York Fashion Week will begin.  Official fashion shows will be going on a the Lincoln Center:

Lincoln Center restaurant under the Pavilion where Fashion Week events happen this week.

But all over town designers will be having UNofficial shows in other amazing spaces, like Diane von Furstenberg at Spring Studios 50 Varick Street.

Last October, Jon and I were in New York for a Brooklyn brownstone home tour.  Before we left, I was able to go to a few designer showrooms in the mid town area.  My FAVORITE was the 1st Dibs showroom at the New York Design Center.

These bell jar lanterns caught my eye right away:

Opposite the bell jar lanterns was this scene with this nubby leather armchair and clean glass jars in assorted sizes:

Jon and I really liked the industrial school chair looking lucite chairs (Jon even sat in one for a minute):

And I can't pass by simply classic art or a blue and white lamp without taking a picture:

More lovely blue and white lamps, art, and luscious wood case goods:

Oh man--these leather seat French chairs with cane backings stopped me in my tracks:

Loved the chairs, the tufted chaise, and the cow hide:

This was a contraption similar to Darryl Carter's couch, where the arm can fold down to make the seating capacity larger:

Love the map and the captain's mirror (round in the background):

The black walls popped this light colored furniture and metallic lighting:

The klismos chair!  And those glass-topped nesting tables:

This rugs are exquisite in person.  Wish I had 20k to spend on them!

Those industrial hanging green lights in the background are so popular right now, but the creamy couch is so classic:

Another dark wall to pop the lighting, but the mid-century modern furniture was amazing to look at:

Jon sat down after a while and fell asleep while I kept looking and looking and looking.  The little girls were just as bored as he was.  Such a good sport!

There were lots of antique dealers in spaces near 1st dibs, and they were just as amazing.  I'll have to post pictures of Ralph Lauren's showroom at the Decoration and Design Building closer to Central Park.
