We were supposed to just be doing a "spiff up" on the kitchen this year, and then do a big make-over "some day". So earlier this year I worked with Jon on changing the backsplash, the shelf covering our half wall in the middle of the room where our oven is, painting the walls a different color, making the built-in hutch actually look good, and painting the cabinets. We certainly weren't geared up for the granite countertops that I wanted.
BUT then our dishwasher stopped working. And the new one couldn't be installed with the floors built up around the opening.

We've been able to get rid of a lot of things that I didn't like about the kitchen. I'll post pictures as we get things finished up. I've been inspired by these photos:
