Lighting with Lots of Texture

Pacifica Pendants from Crate and Barrel

With my most recent client, I've started noticing that there is a growing trend toward high-texture lighting, like these large rope and wicker pendants from Crate and Barrel above.  Sheesh, in general, pendant chandeliers are huge--hehe--and popular.

Similar to the Crate and Barrel wicker pendants, this chandelier (above) is made of a metal frame with wrapped in jute rope.

Lots of texture here (above) in Sally Markham's room with bare walls and loads of texture in the wood floor, wood table, and woven dining chairs + pendants.  Hanging lights are a great way to add interest to the upper half of a room.  It's like jewelery!

Target even is on the bandwagon with the woven pendants!  You know this trend is going mainstream when Target gets into the game!  This natural fiber look is so different from the industrial pendant.

Goodness, these vaulted ceilings do really well with such large scale lighting.  This texture is necessary with the sterile white walls that are so hot right know.

Even raw wood chandeliers are adding texture instead of all metal.  These looks seem to pop up for a beachy casual look, or a warm but modern urban look.  A very rustic chandleier with a great square shape.
